• Accessibility

The Department of Finance is committed to making our website as accessible as possible. This means providing access to:

    • people with disabilities
    • people using mobile devices
    • those with slower internet connections
    • rural and regional users.

Over the past few years we made significant improvements to our site to meet with the standards set by Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 AA level.

These improvements to templates and content included:

    • providing skip to links and improved resizing options
    • providing text alternatives for pdf attachments
    • ensuring images and tables are displayed correctly
    • ensuring our menu is accessible via touch screens.

We also improved the awareness within our Department of the need for accessible websites. This will enable us to continue meeting these standards into the future.

We will continue to improve our site in:

    • User testing and external auditing
    • Responsive design for mobile devices
    • Alternative styles and colour contrast
    • Improved template layouts
    • Converting publications to html content
    • Increased training and awareness for staff
    • Improved information architecture
    • Use of plain language

You can send us feedback on the accessibility of this site to webadmin@finance.wa.gov.au

Some content may not be fully accessible. This includes:

    • Out of date publications that have been superseded
    • Submissions by third parties
    • News archives
    • Content that is provided for archive purposes and was originally published prior to 1 July 2013.

For assistance with any of the above exceptions please contact us.

At the top of each page there are options to skip to various areas of the page. These features will assist users of screenreaders and will also assist users that view this site zoomed in close.

    Document attachments

Where possible, pdf documents have also been provided in Microsoft Word format (.doc). In some cases we may not be able to provide Microsoft Word versions. For example, documents that have been produced by a third party such as submissions or scanned documents.

In line with standard practice all document attachments will open into a new window. Sizes will only be specified for documents over 2MB.

Documents provided on this website can also be provided in other formats upon request. Contact us to request alternate document formats.

To assist with scanning content or users of assistive technologies, where ever possible hyperlinks allow the link text to be meaningful when read out of context.

The following best practice approach is taken for linking within our site:

    • All links to pages within the site where the menu is still available will open within the same window.
    • All links to attachments or external sites will open into a new window.

This approach allows users to set their browser options to open in new tab if this is preferred to opening in a new window.

    Text resizing

Text on this site can be resized by using the - A + links located at the top right corner under the main menu. Select the - to decrease the text size. Select the + to increase the text size.

    Alternatively you can:

    • use the zoom and increase font options from your browser’s menu
    • press the Ctrl key (Microsoft WIndows) or the Apple key (Mac OS) on your keyboard and use the + or – key to zoom in an out
    • press Ctrl on your keyboard and scroll with your mouse wheel.

All images that are used to display a meaning will have alternative text available. Some browsers may also display a tooltip of this alternative text when the cursor hovers or focuses on the image.

Images that are used for decorative purposes only do not contain any alternative text.

Where possible tables are only used to display tabular information and are not used for formatting.

Row and column headings have been identified using HTML for use with assistive technologies.

On our pages which display many publications we have chosen to display these publications in a tabular format to allow ease of access to multiple formats.

Printing a page on this site

Pages can be printed by using the print button located at the top right corner under the main menu.

Using your browser’s print option will also produce a print friendly version.
