• Changes to the Open and Effective Competition Policy - December 2009

    The State Supply Commission (SSC) Board recently approved several changes to the SSC's Open and Effective Competition policy.

    The amendments are effective 1 December 2009 and include:

    • the removal of the mandatory requirement for public authorities to advertise open tenders on the Government Tenders page of The West Australian newspaper;
    • the inclusion of a provision to allow public authorities to engage with Australian Disability Enterprises (ADEs) directly, without following a competitive quote or open tender process [1]; and
    • the inclusion of references to the Australia - Chile Free Trade Agreement.

    Please note, while the mandatory requirement to advertise open tenders on the Government Tenders page of The West Australian newspaper has been removed, public authorities will continue to have discretion to advertise tenders in both metropolitan and regional based newspapers.
