Policy was launched on 30 January 2013 by the Hon. Simon O'Brien, Minister
The Policy is a national first and commits Government to a
leadership role in improving the quality of our public realm, raising industry
and community awareness of good design, recognising value for money across the
whole life of a project, and promoting sustainable design principles. An Action
Plan has been developed to accompany the Policy, which identifies strategies to
improve built environment outcomes, including inmplementing minimum design
standards for public works and committing to a rigorous program of Design Review
of key state projects.
Better Places and Spaces was developed by
the Office of the Government Architect and responsibility for its implementation
also rests with the Office.
