• Competitive Neutrality

The essence of competitive neutrality is that Government businesses should not enjoy a net competitive advantage simply as a result of their public sector ownership.  However, this should not be at the expense of social benefit i.e. social welfare and equity, economic and regional development, or the interests of consumers.

These obligations are outlined in the Western Australian Government‘s Policy Statement on pdf Competitive Neutrality [PDF].

If you have a complaint about the anti-competitive behaviour of a State Government business, please contact Peter Laing on 6551 4771, or email Peter.Laing@finance.wa.gov.au.

Complaints about anti-competitive behaviour at Local Government level are handled by the Department of Local Government and Communities. Their contact person is Virginia Scott at (08) 6551 8700 or Virginia.scott@dlgc.wa.gov.au.
