• Finance goes to Market for electricity

The Department of Finance released a Request for the Supply of Retail Electricity in the South West Interconnected System.

The Request will establish a Common Use Arrangement (CUA) with a panel of suppliers, who can provide electricity to government agencies and other approved users. The Request closed on 22 May 2012.

This CUA will enable customers to purchase electricity in the following categories:

    • Category A – Small End User Sites (50MWh to 160 MWh per annum)
    • Category B – Large End User Sites (>160 MWh per annum)

The proposed CUA has a potential turnover of $140 million per annum.

The new arrangement will enable quick and efficient purchasing. Benefits include pre-negotiated terms and conditions, a simple quote and order system, ‘pick and buy’ purchasing for small users and a range of additional services available to many end users.
