    Department of Sport and Recreation is the client agency, responsible for definition of scope and specifications, and communication with future stadium users.
    VenuesWest is the future asset owner, responsible for managing the operating Stadium and the surrounding precinct.

    Project Description

    A new, multipurpose Stadium with a capacity of 60,000 seats, located in a parkland setting at the Burswood Peninsula.

      The Stadium is designed primarily to host Australian Football League (AFL) matches, but will be capable of accommodating all forms of cricket, and have the ability to be configured for rugby and football (soccer) matches, as well as concerts.
    It will be surrounded by a broader Sports Precinct which is designed to accommodate a range of active and passive recreational spaces, and entertainment uses.
    Transport and access will be supported by new transport infrastructure, including a new Stadium Bus Station, a new Stadium Rail Station and the Swan River Pedestrian Bridge.

    Project Budget

    $955 million (capital cost component for Stadium and surrounding Sports Precinct only).
    Operating phase budget will be separate, and will be managed by VenuesWest.
    Transport infrastructure also has a separate budget, project managed by Public Transport Authority.

    Expected Completion

    Construction completed by December 2017, so the Stadium is ready for the start of the AFL season in 2018.

    A new, contemporary major sports stadium for Perth, focusing on entertainment experience by taking a “fans-first” approach to planning and design to create an exceptional event atmosphere.
    Transform the Burswood Peninsula and create a spectacular gateway to Perth.
    Enhance Perth’s reputation as a world-class destination, that attracts more international sporting and entertainment events to Perth.
    The fan experience will be enhanced through the provision of an improved and integrated public transport system.
    The Stadium to be designed with provision to expand to 70,000 seats.
