• Card Administration Fees


    The Office of State Revenue accepts certain payments via Visa and MasterCard debit, prepaid and credit cards.

    The following non-refundable card administration fees apply to all credit card or debit card payments to recover the costs associated with processing these payments:

    • Visa debit/prepaid: 0.11%
    • Visa credit: 0.64%
    • MasterCard debit/prepaid: 0.30%
    • MasterCard credit: 0.82%

    Is the card administration fee included in the invoiced amount or as an additional amount?

    The card administration fee will be applied in addition to your assessment amount when your method of payment is via a credit card or a debit card.

    You will be advised of the assessment amount and the additional card administration fee prior to confirming the payment.


    Why do I incur a card administration fee, and why are the fees different depending on the card used?

    State Revenue is charged merchant service fees by financial institutions due to large volumes of payments when customers elect to pay by a credit or debit card.

    The amount differs depending on which card type has been used to make the payment.

    State Revenue charges the relevant card administration fee to recover the direct costs associated with processing payments.


    How can I avoid paying the card administration fee?

    A list of payment options for your assessment is detailed on your assessment notice. Alternative methods for payment of your assessment without incurring the card administration fee include cash, cheque or BPAY.

    The card administration fees may be subject to change to reflect the current cost associated with processing the transactions. The current fees will be published on this page.


    How long will it take to process my credit or debit card payment?

    It may take up to 3 business days for your credit or debit card payment to be processed.
