Electricity prices

Here you can find the regulated electricity prices for:

  • small to medium businesses
  • large businesses
  • regional non-integrated grids
  • government organisations.

The prices below apply from 1 July 2012. The electricity prices include a carbon component resulting from the Australian Government's Clean Energy Act 2011.

Prices for small to medium business

Note: one unit of electricity is equal to one kilowatt hour (kWh)

Tariff K1 – combined residential / business properties

  • Supply charge: 41.5455 cents per day
  • Electricity charge – cents per unit:
    • First 20 units per day: 24.8866
    • 20–1650 units per day: 28.1662
    • More than 1650 units per day: 25.6357

Tariff L1 – small business tariff (non-contestable)

  • Supply charge: 39.4251 cents per day
  • Electricity charge – cents per unit:
    • First 1650 units per day: 28.1662
    • More than 1650 units per day: 25.6357

Tariff L2 – small business tariff (non-contestable)

  • Supply charge: 39.4251 cents per day
  • Electricity charge – cents per unit:
    • First 1650 units per day: 28.1662
    • More than 1650 units per day: 25.6357

Tariff L3 – small/medium business tariff (contestable)

  • Supply charge: 49.9964 cents per day
  • Electricity charge – cents per unit:
    • First 1650 units per day: 35.1416
    • More than 1650 units per day: 31.9421

Tariff L4 – small/medium business tariff (contestable)

  • Supply charge: 49.9964 cents per day
  • Electricity charge – cents per unit:

Tariff R1 – small business time-of-use tariff (contestable)

  • Supply charge: $1.6163 per day
  • Electricity charge – cents per unit:
    • Peak charge rate: 30.6257
    • Off-peak charge rate: 11.0052

Tariff R3 – small/medium business time-of-use tariff (contestable)

  • Supply charge: $2.3227 per day
  • Electricity charge – cents per unit:
    • Peak charge rate: 42.9560
    • Off-peak charge rate: 14.8091

Prices for large business

Tariff M1 – large business high-voltage tariff (contestable)

  • Supply charge: 46.4533 cents per day
  • Electricity charge – cents per unit:
    • First 1650 units per day: 31.7802
    • More than 1650 units per day: 28.7757

Tariff M2 – large business high-voltage tariff (contestable)

  • Supply charge: 46.4533 cents per day
  • Electricity charge – cents per unit:
    • First 1650 units per day: 31.7802
    • More than 1650 units per day: 28.7757

Tariff S1 – large business low-voltage tariff (contestable)

  • Supply charge: $448.8706 per day
  • Demand charge - 114.0153 cents per day multiplied by (i) the on-peak half-hourly maximum demand; or (ii) 30% of the off-peak half hourly maximum demand; whichever is the greater;
  • Electricity charge – cents per unit:
    • Peak charge rate: 18.6031
    • Off-peak charge rate: 12.6106

Tariff T1 – large business high-voltage tariff (contestable)

  • Supply charge: $630.2224 per day
  • Demand charge - 111.0321 cents per day multiplied by (i) the on-peak half-hourly maximum demand; or (ii) 30% of the off-peak half hourly maximum demand; whichever is the greater;:
  • Electricity charge – cents per unit:
    • Peak charge rate: 18.5232
    • Off-peak charge rate: 13.0860

Prices for regional non-integrated grids

Tariff N2 – Commonwealth government or foreign government instrumentalities

  • Supply charge: 34.3471 cents per day
  • Electricity charge – cents per unit: indexed on Singapore Oil Price

Prices for government

Tariff P2 – North West Interconnected System – cost of supply tariff

  • Supply charge: 60.1691 cents per day
  • Electricity charge – cents per unit: 43.8391
