Domain Name Policy
The Domain Name Policy for the Western Australian (WA) public sector is part of the Website Governance Framework, and operates in conjunction with the broader Australian Government Domain Name policy.
This policy aims to:
reduce the proliferation of domain names
enforce the use of the wa.gov.au and wa.edu.au domain names in the WA public sector
promote the WA Government brand for all WA Government online information and services, and present them as the authoritative sources of trusted and accurate content.
What is required?
Agencies are required to have read and understood the Government Domain Name policies, and are also required to comply with these policies because they apply to all State, Territory and Local Government domain names.
Agencies are required to apply to the Department of Finance for all new domain names. Domain names that do not comply with the domain name policies will not be approved.
To apply and register for a new wa.edu.au domain name, go to www.domainname.edu.au. For further information on wa.edu.au domain policy, go to http://www.domainname.edu.au/Policyampfurtherinfo.aspx.
Please direct all wa.edu.au domain enquiries to Education Services Australia Ltd on 1300 885 092 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
