State Fleet: Frequently Asked Questions

What are the current Government Vehicle Scheme (GVS) and Senior Officer Vehicle Scheme (SOVS) contribution rates?

Auditors have asked me for a copy of the lease contract for my State Fleet leased vehicles.  Can you provide me with copies?

Can I get a report that shows me my outstanding lease commitments for financial reporting purposes?

What are the current Government Vehicle Scheme (GVS) and Senior Officer Vehicle Scheme (SOVS) contribution rates?

Contribution rates are subject to annual review in line with movements in the CPI for Transport (Perth Index).  Revised rates (where applicable) apply from the first pay period in October 2012.

The new contribution rates are:

Rate A: Passenger vehicles – 4-cylinder up to 2.0L = $87.50

Rate B: Passenger vehicles – 4-cylinder >2.0L and other vehicles below CO2 threshold not exceeding 205 grams per km = $120.00

Rate C: Passenger vehicles above CO2 threshold and all SUVs and light commercial vehicles = $136.50

The leasing of vehicles by State Fleet to agencies is a service provided under an arrangement established by the WA State Supply Commission. There are no individual lease contracts (as such) for each of State Fleet's 10,000+ vehicles; however an 'Agency General Agreement' outlines general rules and conditions relating to these leases. This agreement has been sent to all CEOs, Principal Accounting Officers and Fleet Managers (who act on behalf of agencies).  An updated copy of this document is available on request from this office.

Can I get a report that shows me my outstanding lease commitments for financial reporting purposes?

The vehicle leases agencies have with State Fleet can be considered to be operational leases and are non-cancellable. While it is possible to retire a vehicle prior to its scheduled expiry date, the penalty this attracts will make the lease non-cancellable in nature.  A report showing outstanding lease commitments is readily available by contacting State Fleet.
