Local Authority Swimming Pool Subsidy Scheme
This scheme provides a contribution (subsidy) towards operating losses incurred by local governments in the operation of public swimming pools.
The maximum subsidy per pool for operating losses in any one year is $3000 and is only available to pools which are developed and operated by local government on local government land.
The subsidy is paid subject to the following criteria:
assistance is only afforded to those pools which are developed and operated by local governments on local government land;
an annual statement of receipts and payments (items of a capital nature, provision for depreciation and interest on loans are excluded) relating solely to the operation of the pool for the preceding year ending 30 June must be submitted to the Office of State Revenue when requesting payment; and
the statement is to be certified as to its accuracy by the relevant local government’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
