• Korea-Australia Free Trade Agreement (KAFTA)

The Korea-Australia Free Trade Agreement (KAFTA) entered into force on 12 December 2014. Chapter 12 of the KAFTA contains legally binding requirements relating to procurement activities conducted by government agencies, including Western Australian government agencies. These requirements, including the thresholds at which the KAFTA applies, mirror those contained within the Australia-United States Free Trade Agreement and the Australia-Chile Free Trade Agreement.

Further information about the KAFTA, along with the full text of the agreement, is available on the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade website at www.dfat.gov.au/fta/kafta.

The State Supply Commission’s Free Trade Agreement Guidelines provide government agencies with information on conducting government procurement in accordance with the Free Trade Agreements. The guidelines can be downloaded from the Free Trade Agreements web page.
