Public Interest Disclosure

How to disclose public interest information, and the protections that are provided by the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2003.
Last updated:

To reduce corrupt conduct and maladministration in the public sector, the Public Interest Disclosure Act (2003) promotes the disclosure of information that is relevant to the public interest. The Act also provides protection for those who make disclosures, and the subjects of disclosures.

The Act provides public sector employees and members of the public with an avenue for complaints and grievances. This helps identify areas where improper conduct may be occurring, in order for remedial action to be taken.
